NESEC values your personal privacy. NESEC will not contact you unless you request it. We will never spam you, and we will not give your personal information to other organizations.

What Personal Information Do We Use?

NESEC uses two kinds of information from visitors: personal information which directly identifies you to us (such as your name, email, and mailing address) and non-personal information which does not allow us to identify you (such as your IP address).

  • NESEC only uses personal information that you explicitly provide to us. Your personal information will only be used to carry out the services that you have requested.
  • NESEC will not disclose your personal information out to other organizations unless required by court order or law.
  • In places where we have partnered with outside organizations (such as Just Give or PayPal) we make it clear on our website when you will be interacting with an organization outside of NESEC.
  • NESEC does not partner with organizations that we feel are not respectful of your personal information, and NESEC will provide links to the privacy policies of partner organizations whenever possible.
  • Non-personal information is collected by our website hosting service, Datarealm (Privacy Policy) and by Google Analytics (Privacy Policy), to help us improve the features on our web site. At no time is this aggregated information traceable back to you or your browsing habits on the NESEC website.

How Is My Information Used?

  • If you donate to NESEC through the Carbon Monoxide Detectors Can Save Lives and Weather Radios Can Save Lives programs:
    NESEC uses the address provided with your donation to send you your free gift, along with a personalized Thank You letter for your contribution. If we encounter a problem in shipping your free gift, we may contact you by phone or email in order to resolve the situation. NESEC retains a copy of your Thank You letter in order to fully comply with our yearly auditing policies.

    NESEC does not process, retain, or even see your online financial information. Instead, we rely on PayPal (Privacy Policy) to process your credit card information. If you send us a check, we immediately cash your check at our bank. We do not use personal information obtained from your donation for any other purposes.

  • If you give a donation to NESEC through Just Give or the Network for Good:
    NESEC uses the address provided with your donation to send you a personalized Thank You letter for your contribution. NESEC retains a copy of your Thank You letter in order to fully comply with our yearly budgetary audits.

    NESEC does not process, retain, or even see your online financial information. Instead, we rely on Just Give (Privacy Policy) and the Network for Good (Privacy Policy) to process your credit card information. If you send us a check, we immediately cash your check at our bank. We do not use personal information obtained from your donation for any other purposes.

  • If you contact us directly or through our Contact Form:
    In an effort to shield ourselves from spammers, NESEC requires a name, city, state, and valid email address from commenters who use the contact form on our website. NESEC only uses this information to reply to your question or comments. NESEC does not use your contact information for any other purpose, and we do not give this information out to other organizations.

    If you contact us directly by phone, fax, or mail, we will retain your contact information only as needed to respond to your solicitations. We will never use your personal information to spam you, and we do not give this information out to other organizations.

  • If you sign up to the HAZUSNET-USA Listserv:
    The HAZUSNET-USA listserv, hosted by MCEER, requires you to actively join the list before receiving any email, and users can unsubscribe from the list at any time (see the full instructions for more information). Please note, however, that this list is unmoderated, and NESEC is not responsible for the actions of list users.

  • Use of Non-Personal Information:
    The NESEC website is hosted by Datarealm (Privacy Policy). Datarealm and Google Analytics (Privacy Policy) provides NESEC with aggregated non-personal information about our web site users, which we use to enhance our website and its features. Examples of aggregated non-personal information include how many visitors come to the site, what pages were the most popular, etc. At no time is this any of this information traceable back to you or your browsing habits on the NESEC website.


How Do We Protect Your Information?

NESEC takes adequate safety measures in order to safeguard your personal information. NESEC does not process, retain, or even see your online financial information. Instead, NESEC relies on trusted organizations (like PayPal) to handle online transactions for us. NESEC retains very little personal information (mostly e-mail backups and copies of donation letters), and when we do, we employ physical and software security measures to keep our computers safe.
